Spending a night in a treehouse: fairy-tale getaways near the Kruger

9 Minute Read Leave a Comment

Looking for an unusual way to spend your night while being on safari? Spend the night in a treehouse! And no, then we are not talking about the huts that you put together as a child. These accommodations give the term ‘treehouse’ a whole new meaning. Luxurious, comfortable and wild: dream away with a few of our favourite treehouse getaways in South Africa!

    1. Pezulu Tree House Lodge

“If you want to sleep in a treehouse, Pezulu Tree House Lodge is a favourite,” says travel designer Ingrid Burger. Not surprising, given that giraffes are parading in your backyard, the facilities and the affordability of the accommodation. The treehouses are suitable for families and romantic getaways. The honeymoon suite has a jacuzzi with an incredible view.

You’ll find the Pezulu Tree House in Hoedspruit, near the Kruger Park. | Prices start at €168, – for two people in low season.

    Lion Sands Game Reserve

You have to believe us: after an overnight stay in the pure luxury of Lion Sands Game Reserve, you never want to go home again. Lion Sands has three treehouse lodges, where you will be amazed:

    2. Chalkley Treehouse

The Chalkley Treehouse in the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve breathes romance. Overlooking the wild savannah, you’ ll enjoy dinner at sunset and sleep under the stars – miles away from civilization.

    3. Kingston Treehouse

Surrounded by boulders, the Kingston Treehouse in Lion Sands Sabi Sand offers comfort for up to four people. The silence is only interrupted by a single animal sound. And where you spend the night outdoors at the Chalkley Treehouse, Kingston offers some protection with glass and steel.

    4. Tinyeleti Treehouse

The latest addition at Lion Sands Kruger Park is the Tinyeleti Treehouse. Tinyeleti translates as ‘many stars’ in the Tsonga – and the lodge certainly lives up to its name. Overlooking a deserted plateau, you will fall asleep under a starry sky. The Tinyeleti offers space for up to four people.
