Endangered: the untold stories of endangered species

Why now, more than ever, is the time to act? Global warming continues relentlessly, causing extreme temperatures, hunger, drought and flooding. Only 23 percent of this earth is untouched by human hands and with those wild areas its wild inhabitants disappear. The IUCN Endangered Species List now includes over 120,000 creatures, a quarter of which are from Africa. The situation is critical for as many as 745 of the 3907 endangered species in Africa.

    Animal species threatened with extinction

It’s time for action. That is why Explore Africa is introducing a new series: Endangered. In a series of articles we portray animals and species that are threatened in their existence. We focus on the story behind endangered species in Africa. We investigate the threat, its impact on the ecosystem and examine possible solutions. What can you as a visiting tourist do to prevent extinction? Get inspired and read on.
